Quick Writing Update

Our author bios and pics for Forbidden Faith are submitted! Mechel and I have turned in ideas and themes for the cover blurb and are anxiously waiting to see what the marketing team does with it! Next steps…edits 🙂

Now, on to blogging. This is a companion post to the Facebook Live video I posted on my fb author page on Tuesday.

Life ain’t a picnic

difficulty photoWe live in a time or turmoil and distraction. Hardships pile up on us before we’re even totally aware they exist. Meanwhile, on Facebook, instagram, and snapchat, everyone looks like they’re leading happy, perfect lives. No life is perfect and no one is happy all the time. If we were, we wouldn’t even know it. How do we know what happiness is if we don’t have sorrow, struggles, or grief to compare it, too. But this is easy to forget.

When our problems mount, we feel more and more alone. At the same time, the pace of life has gotten so fast. We have deadlines, appointments, and social media to keep up with, pressure to look like models or athletes, pressure to match the neighbors’ expensive lifestyle.

None of this is realistic. And the stress on our physical and mental health as well as our relationships is enormous. Yet with all our  distractions and deadlines, it’s hard to carve out time to address the underlying issues that are causing our problems.

Why I Write

This is why I write, both to release my own stress and to help others find a measure of peace and empowerment to tackle the tough issues in life. It takes courage to work through and rise above hard situations. When I’m struggling, courage can sometimes come through a single line or situation in a story I’m reading. I hope my posts and stories provide extra strength for my readers, too.

Tales of Courage

courage photoWith this in mind, I am creating a Facebook live series which will address tough life issues. Each video will be fairly short and will cover problems ranging from depression to betrayal to perfectionism and more. My theory is that even with all the constraints and pressures we feel, we can make time for a short discussion on how to triumph in life. These will typically occur on Tuesdays. Be watching for reminders on Facebook. (Link to my author page)

A few days after each video, I’ll release a companion blog post here to explore the issue more deeply. What’s in these posts will be guided in large part by the comments and concerns listeners express when they watch the Facebook video. In short, let me know what’s in your heart and on your minds and I’ll do my best to facilitate a discussion and deeper exploration of those issues, both in video and blog format, and in my upcoming fiction.

We must make time to find hope

It takes time to work on and overcome our problems. But solutions can be found and shared in bite-sized videos and quick reads we can fit in our lives. I don’t have all the answers. This is a work in process. I hope you’ll join me on the journey to inner peace.

I would love to hear topics you’d like addressed in the comments. And if you haven’t already, subscribe to my newsletter for exclusive goodies like book extras, life insights, and writing updates! Please share this post with anyone you think it might help.
