Courage and Change

Hello All!

As with many of you, I’ve had a ton of life changes over the past few years. Family moving out, family moving in, shifts in work and community responsibilities, discovering new passions (painting! I suddenly love to paint!), discovering new aches and pains (I’m trying to misplace those), and this fall, heading back to India for a medical mission.

I’m learning more about working through emotions and life issues using meditation, journaling, art, and movement (think dance and yoga). I hope you’ll join me on a journey of creative healing!

Having said all that, I am still writing. But since that’s only a slice of what I’m working toward, I need to shift a few things around here. In upcoming months, I’ll be updating this website to include art, movement, creative wellness, and more, alongside my novels and short stories. And yes, I said novels, plural. Forbidden Freedom is nearing first draft completion. Expect to hear updates about that, too.

In the meantime, I’ll be exploring life issues that are at the heart of leading a happy, fulfilling, meaningful life. To get us started – here’s my first painting,  begun on the night my grandson, Finn, was born.

   Lionheart lives in my kitchen

For me, it represents Courage. I’d never painted before and had no idea what I was doing or if I would be terrible or maybe ok. The jury is still out on that, but I’m having a lot of fun, which is important! For months, I’d been feeling a burning desire to paint, like it was some new passion or calling for me. Ever feel like that? It’s a pretty cool feeling.

Finnegan, not the lion 🙂

I grabbed some house paint and a huge piece of cardboard. Many, many hours later, and after realizing I was not actually painting a giant flower after all, I ended up with this lion. Every time I see it, I think of new beginnings and of new life – my grandson. I can’t think of anything more courageous than bringing a child into the world and shouldering the love and care for a brand new, helpless human, all while nurturing the grand potential that lives within each of us.

Enough said.

Have you had major life changes or felt driven to try something new? I’d love to hear about it! Also, if there’s topics you’re dying to discuss, post those here, too!

Cheers!

Renee 🙂
