Gratitude: Spring Flowers

As part of my blogging, I will be injecting short (usually!) posts on gratitude. I hope these bring a smile to your face and help us all focus more on the joys of life.

imageToday I am grateful for the blossoms of springtime. These tiny pale indigo flowers cover my front lawn. They are the first sure sign of spring that I’ve seen this year. I discovered them a few days ago on a short walk around my yard (where I also noticed a bazillion weeds welcoming the sunshine, but let’s not focus on them).

Alongside these fair beauties, are tons of thick, violet winter weeds, one of my favorite plants, in fact. At our old house, they carpeted our yard, grew dense, fluffy, and wonderfully purple before my husband mowed them down each year (usually resulting in a marital spat, but we won’t go there, either). Josh

When we moved to our new house, it had a pristine purple-weed-free lawn. I purposely did not apply weedicides (is that a word?). Now, seven years later, my lawn brims with clover and is about to burst into downy purple glory! I’ll be sure to upload a pic when it happens. And the best part? My twelve-year-old son, Josh, noticed the impending explosion today, too, and mentioned it to me. Gotta love that kid and his eye for beauty.

Here’s a few of the other lovelies I’ve spotted outside in the past few days. Spring is in full bloom! Hooray!

Cheery daffodil!
